Install mm on Windows

In PowerShell (no administrator rights needed):

# download the binary release in https://rickub.com/bots-garden/mini-me/releases
$Version = "1.0.3"
$Arch = if ($env:PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE -eq "ARM64") { "arm64" } else { "amd64" }
$Asset = "mm-$Version-windows-$Arch.exe"
$Base = "https://rickub.com/bots-garden/mini-me/releases/download/v$Version"
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "$Base/$Asset" -OutFile $Asset

# optional: check the download against the release's checksums (True = OK)
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "$Base/SHA256SUMS" -OutFile SHA256SUMS
$Expected = ((Select-String -Path SHA256SUMS -Pattern $Asset -SimpleMatch).Line -split '\s+')[0]
(Get-FileHash $Asset -Algorithm SHA256).Hash.ToLower() -eq $Expected

# install it in your own programs folder, and put that folder on your PATH once
$Dir = "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\mm"
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force -Path $Dir | Out-Null
Copy-Item $Asset "$Dir\mm.exe" -Force
$UserPath = [Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "User")
if ($UserPath -notlike "*$Dir*") {
  [Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "$UserPath;$Dir", "User")
}

Open a new terminal (the PATH change applies to new ones only), then:

mm --version

Before the first run

  • bash and sh. mm's bash tool runs bash -c <command>, and a hook written as a command: runs sh -c <command>. Install Git for Windows and put its bin folder (C:\Program Files\Git\bin, which holds bash.exe and sh.exe) on your PATH, or turn the tool off with bashTool: false. WebAssembly tools and hooks need neither.
  • A file downloaded with a browser may be blocked by SmartScreen: Unblock-File .\mm-$Version-windows-$Arch.exe before copying it.

These steps have not been tried on a Windows machine yet: the commands are checked against the release's file names and URLs only.

# Install `mm` on Windows

In PowerShell (no administrator rights needed):

```powershell
# download the binary release in https://rickub.com/bots-garden/mini-me/releases
$Version = "1.0.3"
$Arch = if ($env:PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE -eq "ARM64") { "arm64" } else { "amd64" }
$Asset = "mm-$Version-windows-$Arch.exe"
$Base = "https://rickub.com/bots-garden/mini-me/releases/download/v$Version"
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "$Base/$Asset" -OutFile $Asset
# optional: check the download against the release's checksums (True = OK)
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "$Base/SHA256SUMS" -OutFile SHA256SUMS
$Expected = ((Select-String -Path SHA256SUMS -Pattern $Asset -SimpleMatch).Line -split '\s+')[0]
(Get-FileHash $Asset -Algorithm SHA256).Hash.ToLower() -eq $Expected
# install it in your own programs folder, and put that folder on your PATH once
$Dir = "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\mm"
New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force -Path $Dir | Out-Null
Copy-Item $Asset "$Dir\mm.exe" -Force
$UserPath = [Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "User")
if ($UserPath -notlike "*$Dir*") {
  [Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "$UserPath;$Dir", "User")
}
```

Open a new terminal (the `PATH` change applies to new ones only), then:

```powershell
mm --version
```

## Before the first run

- **`bash` and `sh`.** mm's `bash` tool runs `bash -c <command>`, and a hook written as a `command:` runs `sh -c <command>`. Install [Git for Windows](https://git-scm.com/download/win) and put its `bin` folder (`C:\Program Files\Git\bin`, which holds `bash.exe` and `sh.exe`) on your `PATH`, or turn the tool off with `bashTool: false`. WebAssembly tools and hooks need neither.
- **A file downloaded with a browser** may be blocked by SmartScreen: `Unblock-File .\mm-$Version-windows-$Arch.exe` before copying it.

These steps have not been tried on a Windows machine yet: the commands are checked against the release's file names and URLs only.
