Go modules hosted on rickub.com cannot be resolved by the Go toolchain #10

    Summary

    A Go library hosted on Rickub cannot be used as a dependency. go get and go mod tidy both fail before any network fetch of the code happens.

    Steps to reproduce

    bots-garden/call-hello is a minimal consumer of bots-garden/hello, a Go library hosted on Rickub.

    go.mod:

    module demo

    go 1.26.2

    main.go:

    package main

    import "rickub.com/bots-garden/hello"

    func main() {
    	hello.Greet("Bob")
    }

    Then:

    $ go mod tidy
    go: finding module for package rickub.com/bots-garden/hello
    go: demo imports
    	rickub.com/bots-garden/hello: cannot find module providing package rickub.com/bots-garden/hello: unrecognized import path "rickub.com/bots-garden/hello": parse https://rickub.com/bots-garden/hello?go-get=1: no go-import meta tags ()

    Impact

    Any Go library on Rickub is unusable as a dependency.

    good catch, thx, on it

    Fixed by !336 (+ !338 for coverage), merged and deployed.

    rickub.com now serves the go-import (and go-source) meta tags the toolchain resolves against, pointing at the git host's anonymous clone URL — verified end-to-end with the exact repro from this issue, default toolchain env:

    $ go mod tidy
    go: finding module for package rickub.com/bots-garden/hello
    go: downloading rickub.com/bots-garden/hello v0.1.0
    go: found rickub.com/bots-garden/hello in rickub.com/bots-garden/hello v0.1.0

    …then go run prints Hello, Bob!. (The library's Greet returns the string rather than printing it, so the snippet in the issue prints nothing as written.)

    Works at any depth under /owner/repo (the tool walks up prefixes), for any public repo; private repos 404 indistinguishably from missing ones. Modules whose repo was renamed keep resolving via the rename redirect.
