Release notes
Sidekicks 1.2.0
Commit 884189b9fff0bb56d04e25a4110d448e545fa738.
Sidekicks 1.2.0 brings milestone M7 · Small adjustments on top of 1.1.0: the documents an agent writes open next to the conversation, the lists of the left panel fold, the panels are easier to tell apart and to resize, and answers use the whole width of the conversation.
What's new
Open the files an agent links to, next to the conversation (#65)
- When an agent writes a document and gives a link to it, click the link: the file opens in a panel at the right of the conversation, which stays in view.
- Markdown, AsciiDoc, HTML and images are previewed, other text files shown as they are; links of the document to other files open in the same panel.
- 📂 Show where it is opens the Finder (or the Explorer) with the file selected; Open in the agent's files shows it in the Files tab; ↻ reads it again; × or Escape closes the panel.
- Each channel and direct conversation keeps its own panel: it hides when you go elsewhere and comes back with you, unless you closed it.
- The link can be a path in the agent's folder, an absolute path inside it, or a
file://address. Nothing outside the folder is read.

Fold the lists of the left panel (#66)
- Click the heading AGENTS or CHANNELS to fold the list, again to unfold it.
- Folded, the heading still shows how many there are and, in blue, the answers you have not read yet.
- Sidekicks remembers it from one launch to the next. ⌘N unfolds the channels to create one; ⇧⌘N and the command palette still add an agent.
Panels easier to tell apart and to resize
- The lines between the panels are visible in both themes, and can be grabbed a few pixels on each side. The one above the Log only shows when you hover it.
- Dragging a line over an HTML preview no longer stops halfway.
Answers use the whole width
- Answers follow the width of the conversation, wide or narrow, instead of stopping at 860 pixels.
- Wide tables scroll sideways, images shrink, and long paths or addresses wrap, so the conversation never scrolls sideways.
Worth knowing when upgrading
- Drag the new sidekicks into Applications and confirm the replacement; your configuration and your history are kept. The macOS packages are signed and notarized: no Open Anyway.
- To get links that open, an agent must write them: add a line to its
AGENTS.md, e.g. "When you write a file, give a Markdown link to it, relative to your folder". - Your configuration files keep working as they are: nothing changes in them.
